Fluency Game

Add sparkly glasses and emerging readers and let the fun begin.

My class absolutely loves playing this fluency game.  This version uses the Fry Phrases.  But I also have Dolch word lists versions on my TPT. I use all of them so that I can differentiate the instruction with all levels of readers in my classroom.  I love that they all get to play the {same} game.  I have used it in reading groups, with parent volunteers, and even as a fast finisher.

What you will need:
Put the cards in a cute basket.  You will also need a pair of {Superstar}glasses.  I bought the sparkly star ones from the dollar store.
How to play:
Have the students sit in a circle.  They take turns reading the card, then pass to the next player.  This helps them practice reading sight words in phrase form to increase fluency.  There are also fun instruction cards to keep them all engaged in the game.
Flip Flap put your cards back
Superstar: Read 4 fast  (then they get to wear the superstar glasses until another player gets a superstar card.
Surprise: Choose another card
